Prince Rupert teacher plans walkabout to highlight concerns
We received a note from a Prince Rupert reader about a local teacher, Tulani Ackerman, who plans to walk across BC this summer to raise public awareness of the continuing disintegration of the public education system. The plans are gaining strong support in Prince Rupert, with several events planned for the months leading up to the walk, and interviews with local newspapers. Students are participating too, with plans for a fundraising dinner put on entirely by students.
Local supporters are urging other communities to support the effort.
Here is a report in the Prince Rupert News (scroll down to “Thousands of steps to make a difference”)
Tulani also reportedly has a blog – will post a link as soon as I find it, as well as contact info for others who want to support this initiative!
